IIJS@Home: Forgiveness

Screen the film at home and join us for a virtual Q&A with Adar Shafran (producer).

We are thrilled to share Film@IIJS with you at this time. The Q&A will not have any screenings in real time; rather a link to stream the film from home will be made available to you a few days prior to the Q&A session and will only be available until the Q&A event. If you have any questions, please email iijs@columbia.edu.

[Please note: at this time, only residents of the United States will be able to stream the film.

In this comedy/drama, set near the border with Gaza, longtime pals Shaul and Nissan (co-writers/directors Guy Amir & Hanan Savyon) attempt to rob a postal bank. The mismanaged job lands Shaul in prison. Years later, upon his release, Shaul is less than pleased to be greeted by the newly-religious Nissan, desperately seeking his forgiveness.

Joining us on Zoom to speak and answer questions about the film is Adar Shafran, the producer and close collaborator with Amir and Savyon on "Forgiveness" and their prior feature film, "Maktub" (available on Netflix in the US). Adar will discuss the production of this film, the role of a film producer, and his other work, including the films of Haredi writer/director, Rama Burshtein ("Fill the Void," “The Wedding Plan").
